Be Aware of Elder Abuse

Dennis D. Duffy · Aug 22, 2012 ·

Do you know how many twisted people there are that seek to take advantage of the aging population in The United States and how easy it is for them to do so? According to many experts the number of people looking to do this rises along with the number of elderly people in the country. You can do something about it.

Make sure that your family is taken care of. Talk to your elderly family members about what is going on in their lives. Often elder abuse can be prevented if family is in the elderly person’s life. Ask your elderly family members about their finances. You do not have to embarass them about it. You just need to know what is going on. Do not just ask them once. Ask regularly so that you know if there are any sudden and significant changes in their plans. Large and unexpected changes are a sign of possible abuse.

If you do think that you have an elderly family member being abused, do something about it as soon as possible. Hire an elder law attorney to assist you in fighting the abuser and in undoing as much of the damage as possible.
