Almost everyone has plans for best case scenario situations. A business plans for how much money it will have if everything goes right. Individuals plan for what will happen if they keep their current level of income or get the raise they have been hoping for. Many people have plans for what will happen to their property after they pass away. They may have told their spouse what to do with everything. That’s the best case scenario for when you die. Your spouse will be able to handle everything.
As you probably know, the best case scenario does not always come to pass. You don’t always get the raise. Everything does not always go right. If you do not have plans for what might go wrong, then you have to react to events as they happen. Very few people find that fun. It’s no different in estate plans. The best case scenario rarely comes to pass. This is where estate planning comes in. An attorney can make plans for what might go wrong and how to handle the various contingencies when they do occur. That’s what estate planning attorneys do, and that’s why you need one to help with your estate plan.
