HOLDING OFF ON ESTATE PLANNING DOESN’T MEAN YOU’LL HOLD OFF THE FUTURE

Dennis D. Duffy · Sep 30, 2011 ·

If you dont want to plan for the future, then theres no need for estate planning. This is a great option if you want to let the future unfold without having any control. If you do want to have some say in your future affairs, then you must plan. With the right legal documents in place, you can take some of the uncertainty out of your life. Take a look at the following information, to learn more. If you have any questions, or if youd like to start your estate planning, contact an estate planning attorney.

How do you feel about the future?

Are you nervous about how the future will unfold? Do you want to have some control so that you understand how certain situations will be handled? Most people want to be in control over the future, so they choose to create a plan.

With the right plan in place, you can plan for the following:

  • You can have a say in how your property is distributed
  • You can choose who will care for your children if youre ever unable to
  • You can appoint trusted helpers to handle paying your bills and managing your assets
  • Youre able to take some of the stress out of your everyday life
  • You have the ability to plan for emergency medical decisions
  • Youre able to prepare so that your family is always cared for
  • You can plan for future long term care and college costs
  • You can begin planning for your retirement
  • You can plan for the continued care of a loved one with special needs

These are just some of the ways in which you can prepare for the future. Make sure that you have the control that you need. Without an estate plan, you will be letting the court and state law make decisions for you.

If youre ready to get started with your estate planning affairs, consult an estate planning attorney.
